THE ACCEPTANCE TESTING OF THE ACCIDENT AND POST-ACCIDENT MONITORING SYSTEM FOR UNIT 2 OF RIVNE NPP HAS BEEN CARRIED OUT

In May 2018, the acceptance testing of the accident and post-accident monitoring system (PAMS) for unit 3 of Rivne NPP was carried out at the site of PJSC “SRPA “Impulse”, the system was created within the framework of implementation of the “Complex (Consolidated) Safety Upgrade Program for NPP Units” project using credit funds of EBRD/EURATOM.

PAMS is designated to monitor safety parameters and state of reactor facility’s systems during design and beyond-design accidents at NPPs.

PAMS assures functions of accident and post-accident monitoring at any design-relevant initial events, as well as beyond-design accidents (including those connected with severe damage of fuel).

The aim of the acceptance testing was as follows:

  • to define if PAMS meets the requirements of the design and normative documentation;
  • to assess readiness of PAMS to be supplied to NPP to be installed and commissioned.

Based on the results of the acceptance testing, the commission consisting of representatives of RNPP, State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety, LLC “I&C CERTCENTR”, and PJSC “SRPA “Impulse” stated the system submitted to be tested meets the design and normative documentation and is ready to be supplied to Unit 3 of RNPP.
